RESI
The number of PhD and postdoc positions at universities has risen steadily in recent years. However, tenured jobs have not increased accordingly and long-term academic careers are mainly exceptional. In view of these facts, RESI (Researchers with Enterpreneurial Spirit Innsbruck) was founded as an organization that promotes an entrepreneurial mindset to complement and strengthen the professional careers of PhDs and postdocs both inside and outside academia.
RESI is part of the postdocs2innovators (p2i) network, (consisting of five leading universities and two global companies), which aims to improve the long-term career opportunities for postdocs.
You can find all information about the RESI network here.
Skinnovation
Skinnovation – the only startup conference on skis! Every March, more than 500 startups, investors, innovative corporates and entrepreneurship enthusiasts meet for two and a half days in Innsbruck to ski together, but also to attend exciting lectures at the ski huts and startups pitch their ideas to investors on the ski lift. Skinnovation is therefore not only a top ski event, but also connects startups and investors. Many business partnerships as well as friendships have been created here.
Skinnovation took place for the first time in 2015 and since 2016 the organizing team is based at the InnCubator. The InnCubator offers the perfect facilities – even if more space is needed at the end of the conference organization.
From sensor to cloud – understanding IoT
Digitalization has already found its way into the most diverse areas of life, making the environment around us ever more networked. Phrases such as the Internet of Things (IoT) are often used. But what exactly do they mean and how is this implemented in practice?
In this series of workshops, we provide participants with a basic understanding of how networked technologies work and how they can be used in everyday life. Using practical projects, we will show you how your own four walls can be made smarter and the many possibilities this offers. In these workshops, participants will learn about the basic functions and possibilities of the machines available in the IoT Lab and will also work directly on the machines as part of the workshops. This includes the assembly and functional testing of circuit boards, the programming of microcontrollers and the use of additive processes using 3D printing.
This series of workshops is supported by the state of Tyrol as part of a lighthouse grant for digitalization.
UX test dinner
In cooperation with Empatic UX, the InnCubator organizes usability testing events 4 times a year with lots of exciting teams!
Prototypes, websites, video games, apps or other products can be tested for their usability in 4 rounds of 15 minutes each. At the end, we give you the opportunity to come together in a final round. With specific tasks and the offer directly in front of you, you test the respective prototypes and provide valuable feedback at the same time with the help of the think-aloud method. In practice, this means that you speak all your thoughts as you click through and let the little voice in your head run free.
The whole event always takes place on site at our InnCubator (Egger-Lienz Straße 116). Whether as a test station or as a tester – be part of the next usability testing event at the InnCubator!
IoT essentials for SMEs
IoT Essentials is aimed at employees of SMEs who recognize the potential for digitalization within their company and would like to learn more about the Internet of Things (IoT) and device networking. The most important technological basics and concrete use cases of the IoT are taught. Hands-on examples are used to demonstrate the application of relevant hardware and software. Experts provide support in the implementation of activities, including prototyping for your own company. This consulting service can be arranged individually following the course. The IoT
laboratory of the InnCubator is available free of charge for specific practical implementation in the hardware and software area of the company.
You can find all information about the training here.

“Beyond prototyping” for SMEs in the Digital Innovation Hub West
The Digital Innovation Hub West offers SMEs in western Austria easy access to the expertise and infrastructure of universities and research institutions and promotes networking. In cooperation with the IT department of the University of Innsbruck, we offer SMEs the course “Beyond Prototyping” consisting of 7 workshops. The aim of the Beyond Prototyping course is to accelerate the transformation process and eliminate the gap between minimum viable products (MVP) and their successful implementation as software-based innovation (NPD) within a company. The workshops provide participants with a comprehensive, practice-oriented toolbox for DevOps/software prototyping, testing, resource allocation and process monitoring. The toolbox is based on process-oriented, customer-centric elements of design thinking, scrum and innovation practices. The course therefore focuses in particular on software-oriented and data-driven innovation. You can find more information here.
